Gentleman's Chamber (Kamer Mijnheer)
- Up to 12 people
- 36 m2
The Gentleman's Chamber was the bedroom of the former owner of the estate. It is a warm place at the front of the country house, where the sense of tranquility is clearly felt. The room features warm, masculine colors. The room is furnished with sturdy, masculine chairs, a unique table and decorative features and art objects that refer to its former functionality. The decor is characterized by the comfortable Artifort conference chairs, which give the room a corporate and executive look. An interesting counterpart is the stage: a combination of six or eight actual stage sections, which can be used as a 40-cm-high coffee table or as a 78-cm-high worktable. At coffee table height, the stage can serve as a lounge table, softening the austerity of the chrome and black leather chairs somewhat. And ‘stage’ can also be interpreted literally: the stage sections can bear up to one metric ton, so someone can easily take place on the stage.
In view of their multifunctional use, the podium sections have been covered in a soft green natural rubber. Contrasting with the businesslike and rectilinear appearance of the black rubber floor and the furniture, subtle excerpts of the poem ‘Mei’ (May) by Herman Gorter have been painted on the ceiling, illuminated by Inger Mauer's poetic ‘Birdie’. The Gentleman's Chamber is situated on the second floor of the country house and is suitable for meetings or workshops for up to 12 people in the standard layout. It can accommodate 20 people in the theater or circular layouts.
